🔐🚪 BROKEN ELECTRIC STRIKE AFTER BREAK-IN? HERE’S WHY… 🚪🔐
- Peso strike broken
- Alpha intercom broken
- LEAKING DOOR CLOSER OIL
After a break-in or forced entry, one of the most common failures we see is a broken electric strike.
❗ Important to know:
Electric strikes damaged by force or abuse are NOT covered under warranty.
⚠️ LOW-COST ELECTRIC STRIKES ($200 and under)
• ❌ No warranty
• ⚙️ Weak internal mechanism
• 💥 Break easily when door is pulled or forced
• 🔧 Must be replaced (not repairable)
👉 Most common issue:
The strike latch (lip) breaks off — exactly what we see after forced entry.
💪 FORCE RATINGS MATTER
• Standard strikes: ~400 lbs resistance
➡️ One strong pull = 💥 broken
• RCI U65 (commercial grade): ~800 lbs
• HES strikes: up to 1200 lbs
👉 Even if forced open, high-end strikes usually DO NOT BREAK and continue working.
🏗️ COMMERCIAL GRADE = REAL PROTECTION
✔️ Stronger internal components
✔️ Higher resistance to forced entry
✔️ Longer lifespan
⚠️ Note:
Upgrading to commercial-grade strikes may require:
• More labor time
• Door/frame modification
🚨 MOST COMMON BROKEN STRIKES WE SEE:
• Alpha Strike (Montreal)
• Peso Strike (Germany)
• RCI 15CA (USA)
